How to Adding a Facebook Share & Tweet Button to Tumblr?

Facebook and Twitter each offer a way for readers to share your company's Tumblr posts. Facebook offers the "Like" button and Twitter offers the "Tweet" button. When readers click either button, they automatically post on Facebook or Twitter, sharing a link to your Tumblr post. All of their social networking followers can see the link and may click it, driving more potential customers to your site. The buttons also each display a count of how many readers have previously clicked them, which may further encourage new clicks. Follow the below Step to Complete Adding a Facebook Share & Tweet Button to Tumblr.

Step No 1

Log in to Tumblr and click your blog name in the dashboard's navigation bar.

Step No 2

Click "Customize Theme" and click "Edit HTML" to display the code for your template.

Step No 3

Paste the following code for Facebook's JavaScript SDK directly after the template's opening "tag:

Paste the following code immediately after the previous block to enable Twitter buttons using JavaScript:

Open Facebook's Like Button page in a second window or tab (link in Resources).

Step No 6

Customize your button using the page's options. Type the button's width in the "width" box, choose the button's text using the "Verb to display" menu, choose the button's layout using the "Layout Style" menu and choose the button label's font using the "Font" menu.

Step No 7

Click "Get Code" to open the button's code and then copy the code from the code pane's second box.

Step No 8

Switch back to the Tumblr window. Paste the copied code after the template code that reads "{/block: Posts}" to add a Facebook share button after each post.

Step No 9

Open Twitter's Buttons page in a new window or tab.

Step No 10

Customize your button using the page's options. Type the tweet's text in the box labeled "Check out this site" click the check box labeled "Show count" to display how many people have clicked the button, click the check box labeled "Large button" if you want to enlarge the button, and type an optional hashtag value in the "hashtag" box.

Step No 11

Copy the button's code from the page's code preview box.

Step No 12

Switch back to the Tumblr window. Paste the copied code after the Facebook button block to add a Twitter share button after each post.

Step No 13

Click "Update Preview" and then click "Save" to save the edited code.
